You or your customers may see a simple math puzzle (“Please solve the challenge below”) when visiting your store. This temporary site-security check appears automatically when our systems detect unusually high or suspicious bot activity and verifies the visitor is human before allowing access.
Why it appears
Trigger: activated automatically when traffic matches patterns associated with scraping, credential stuffing, or automated attacks.
Purpose: to filter malicious automated requests while allowing legitimate visitors and recognized search engine crawlers (for example, Googlebot) to continue accessing the storefront, meaning search indexing and SEO should not be impacted.
Is it permanent?
No. The challenge appears and disappears automatically as traffic returns to normal. In most cases visitors solve the challenge once and are allowed through.
Common reasons a visitor might see it repeatedly
The visitor is using a VPN or proxy that makes requests look automated.
A browser extension (ad blocker, privacy tool, anti-tracking, or automation extension) interferes with page signals.
The visitor’s IP address has a poor reputation or is shared with others generating suspicious traffic.
Automated scripts, bots, or headless browsers are making requests from the same IP.
Cookies or local storage are blocked or cleared, preventing the site from remembering the solved challenge.
Quick troubleshooting for customers who are stuck in a loop
(Visitor solves the puzzle but gets immediately prompted with another challenge)
Try the following steps in order (from easiest to most involved):
Refresh the page and solve the challenge again.
Try an Incognito / Private window (this disables most extensions).
Disable any VPN or proxy, if the VPN must be used, try a different server.
Temporarily disable browser extensions (especially ad blockers, privacy, or automation tools).
Clear cookies and cache for the store domain, then reload and solve.
Try a different browser or device (mobile vs desktop).
If on shared/public Wi‑Fi, try a different network (home network or mobile data).
Ensure JavaScript is enabled and site storage/cookies are allowed. (browser settings)
Canned response you can share with customers
Use the message below to respond to customers stuck in the reCAPTCHA loop. This response is designed for you to copy, paste, and send to your customers to gather the specific details our Evolution X support staff needs to investigate the issue further.
“Thanks for reporting this. That math challenge is an automated security measure we enable when unusual bot-like traffic is detected, it protects the store and customers. Please try an Incognito window, disable any VPN/proxy, or try a different browser/device. If that doesn’t work, please send a screenshot, the exact time it occurred (including your timezone), and your IP address so we can investigate this further.”
