This feature expands on the Parent-Child Customer Accounts model, enabling cross-company access in a more complex hierarchy. While Parent-Child still manages direct relationships between companies, this feature allows users from one company to access accounts of other companies in a “grandfather to grandchild” or similar multi-level arrangement.

This separate feature is designed for businesses with intricate corporate structures, offering broader access management while retaining the original Parent-Child feature for more straightforward relationships.

You can use this toggle to include or exclude child customers associated with the parent account.

Feature Capabilities and Restrictions

Users Access Other Customer Accounts

Users who need access to accounts which are not a child of their own account can enable the access in the User Settings. List the accounts in the "Other Customer Account Access" list:

User Settings

User settings follow the user even as they switch to other accounts. This includes PO Required and similar settings. Note the important limitations below.

Approver Settings

  • Approver settings follow the user, even as they switch to other accounts. This means that an approver user may also need access to the same accounts so they can access an order for review and approval.

  • A user who requires approval from a user that is not in the same parent / child account set is not currently supported. To do this you will require another user with a separate username for approver.

Address Restrictions

  • We don't recommend using address restrictions for users who can access multiple parent accounts.

  • Address restrictions set to a user will be accessible from all accounts they have access to. This mean that they see and can use the address while access other accounts.

  • Default address is not supported when a user switches to another account.

Cost Center Restrictions

  • We don't recommend using cost center restrictions for users who can access multiple parent accounts.

  • Cost Center restrictions set to a user will not be available when they switch to other accounts. If restricted to a list, the user will not see any cost centers of another account.

Account Settings

Account settings to enforce PO mask and other requirements are set per the current account. Switching to another account, and using it's settings, is supported.

Multi-Account Ordering

Order for multiple accounts or departments is supported only within a parent and child accounts. To order for other parent and child sets you must switch to them in storefront.

My Account in Storefront

My Account features are based on the current account. The following account features are limited to view the current account or parent and child accounts active.

  • Order History

  • Invoice History & Payments

  • A/R Balance

  • Cart

Imports, Exports, and API

Imports, Exports and API do not support the other customer access.
