By default we add a new line item to the cart each time a user clicks the add to cart button.

You can change this behavior by enabling the "Increment Cart Qty Only" toggle on Store Settings > Store Preferences > Other Settings. After this, every time that the same item is added to the cart, the quantity will be added to the same line.
