AI Agent: Navigation and form assistance (client tools)

The AI Agent can navigate Admin pages and fill in forms on your behalf, respecting your permissions, disabled fields, and required-field rules.

Written by Andy Flint

Client tools let the AI Agent act as a hands-on assistant inside EvolutionX Admin — not just answer questions, but open the right page and help fill forms you are allowed to edit.

When enabled for your store, the agent can:

  • Navigate to supported Admin pages (for example products, orders, promotions, and other registered routes)

  • Read form context on opted-in screens — field labels, required fields, and current values

  • Fill fields you approve, respecting disabled fields and permission gates

  • Apply product descriptions on the product editor when you are on the product form

  • Create promotions (including related product groups) on stores where promotion tools are enabled — using the same server-side paths as manual promotion setup

You remain in control: review the form before clicking Save. The agent does not bypass Admin permissions.

How it works

  1. Ask the agent to complete a task (“Create a 10% off promotion for SKU X” or “Open the user edit form for jsmith@example.com”).

  2. The agent may navigate to the correct Admin page automatically.

  3. On supported forms, it reads field metadata, proposes values, and fills fields you can edit.

  4. You verify and save — or adjust — like any normal Admin session.

Some tasks use a live connection between the chat widget and Admin so multi-step actions can finish without you copying data back and forth.

Which forms are supported

Form support is growing by release. As of mid-2026, examples include:

  • Promotions (create flow)

  • Wave 1 opt-in forms rolling out for suppliers, customer accounts, users, rewards, and roles (availability depends on your store’s Admin version and rollout)

Not every Admin screen is registered for AI form fill yet. If the agent says a form is unavailable, use manual entry or ask Customer Success when your screen is scheduled.

Permissions and safety

  • The agent only navigates to pages and fields your user could access manually.

  • Required fields, read-only fields, and permission-blocked inputs are skipped or reported — the agent should not claim a save succeeded if required data was missing.

  • Use the Stop control in chat to cancel a long or unwanted action mid-stream.

Example prompts

  • “Take me to the promotion create page and set up a cart-wide 5% discount for logged-in customers.”

  • “Fill in this supplier form with the details I paste next.”

  • “Apply this description to the product I’m editing.”
